The art of celebrating ‘wins’…part I

Each Monday morning I send an e-mail out to some of our leaders asking “Where are we winning?” “Where do we see God bringing His dream for Knoxville to fruition?”

I love reading the responses…sometimes it’s things like “I saw Joe working so hard during set up…” or “It was great watching Susie teaching and loving the Kids in Kids’ City…” And sometimes the win comes from a glimpse of the bigger picture…

This post and the next consist of portions of responses this past Monday from Kevin & Carol Reeve…

From Kevin…
Wins--the entire time this morning was a win for me personally. For some reason, today everything really clicked in a powerful way. I was sitting at the Kids City check-in desk after the service had begun, and I thought about all that was going on, and all the amazing people there, and how and why God brought our family to Knoxville, and the tears just started flowing.

I laughed and smiled and sobbed and thanked my Father for letting me peek behind the curtain at what He is doing so unmistakably in this city.

Then, after regaining some composure, I walked toward hospitality, and I talked with Mark and then with Reggie and then the tears started again. Then I saw John Ketchen, and he had this little boy's grin on his face, and he said, "This is so fun!". More tears, and I made a break for the relative dark of the theater.

I stood just inside the right entrance and worshipped with the crowd before me, including my wife who had also chosen to peek into that entryway. I gripped her and sobbed and smiled and sniffed happily.

What a joy to be broken before a great and gracious God!

I was struck by the joy of people today, people who did not have to be there, people who not just chose to be there, people who by the mercy of our loving Father GOT to be there today.

We are blessed and changed for the better.
