A different kind of good…
I wrote in my previous post about enjoying yesterday at Crossings so much. It was a different day in many ways, but a great day to be together as a faith community. For me, I didn’t teach for the 2nd time since we launched. Being in town and not teaching is always weird for me, it’s a good thing, but always weird.
Because I wasn’t teaching I was able to step in different places and watch and experience things I normally don’t on Sunday mornings. I helped Stephanie put down our multi-colored flooring in Kids’ City. I learned ‘hospitality table formation’ from Lyle & John. I carried in a couple of gallons of water from Amy’s car. I had a couple of short, great conversations with Dustin & Matt about the future of Crossings and I got to welcome Jason to the setup and production team.
As a church plant in a movie theatre, as a faith community that has two main focuses-- A Sunday worship gathering & small groups—Sundays during set up and tear down are many times the only time I get to spend with some of our community.
I continue to be convinced that this church planting temptation to be overwhelmed by the ‘production’ side of Sundays must continually be balanced and grounded in why we’re there in first place: “this dream of God for each and every one of us…this journey we’re all on finding our way back to God.”
May God keep our vision focused…always seeing what’s most important.
