Friday night on Sunday morning...
Yesterday at Crossings was another great day…different in many ways, but a great day to be together as a faith community. We had a great crowd (a record number of children in Kids’ City), a great time of worship together, even more people signing up for small groups, but the thing that stood out to me was the energy and excitement in the lobby area for the 30 minutes before we started and the 30 minutes afterwards.
My wife and I had been at the theatre Friday evening to watch Paris, je t’aime (which is a great movie, go see it) and as we walked out after the movie the lobby was so alive with people coming to see a movie in one of the 8 theatres.
I told Monica, “It’s such a different feel from Sunday morning. I’m not sure exactly what I mean by that, but it feels different.”
Well, for some reason, I think because of the aforementioned vivacity and vibrancy throughout the lobby and the hallways before we started and after we finished, this past Sunday morning at Crossings felt like Friday night at the movies.
When you’re doing the ‘portable church’ thing it’s easy to get caught up in the set up/tear down of everything and forget how important every part is to creating an environment for different levels of community to happen.
Our leaders do such an amazing job of establishing and maintaining an environment for God to move in His people…All without popcorn…

I agree. It's such a fresh feeling to be in a place where the community's purpose is really encapsulated and lived out by the members. It makes it so easy for people to feel welcome. However, a little popcorn during the message may not be a bad idea.

I'm not sure I could handle the crunching sound as I teach...
