A little more on ‘Religulous’…

I mentioned yesterday Bill Maher’s movie, ‘Religulous’ which is currently in theatres.

Below is a clip of Maher being interviewed on The Daily Show with John Stewart. There were two segments on the show, this is the 2nd.

I’d love to know your thoughts…

hmm. i wasn't offended by that. i actually think the questions he spoke aloud in the interview were pretty common questions for someone who is skeptical and doesn't truly understand the christian faith.

but because he's well known as a sort-of comedic jerk, the fact that he's asking the questions can come across as slanderous and derogatory, just because of who he is...when maybe that's not the case. maybe he truly is just curious.

I had to watch this twice before commenting. But here it goes.

He does seem to want to have an answer, but is unwilling to really do the homework. I haven't seen the movie, but you mentioned that Bill seemed to ask the wrong people the questions. I would tend to agree given the people they bring up about a truck stop and the so called "Jesus" Impersonator. I'm not saying those people do or don't know anything about the questions that Bill may have asked them. At the same point, maybe bill didn't want to interview the highly intellectual because he feels they are too far brainwashed or who knows what.

I also don't think he want's to here the answer. He may very well have interviewed other people but didn't put those sections in the movie. It's hard telling.

I also wonder what he bases his definition of "Religious Person" as.

It also pains me when (maybe because it's an election year) Bill said "the United Stupid in America."

We become what we say we are. It's quite disheartening.

I don't know if Bill has gone to a third world country, but It'd be interesting to here what he says after seeing some Spiritual Warfare.
