A small group for church planters…
Crossings has said since the beginning that we are a ‘reproducing community’. It’s a part of who we are, what we believe, it has been set out in front of us since the beginning.This plays itself out in many ways...i.e.- reproducing small groups, reproducing leaders, and reproducing faith communities.
We are very much in the middle of discerning where it might be that God is leading us to plant another community like Crossings sometime in the next 12 months. We’ve got a decent idea of where this might be, I’ll keep you posted…
With all of this in mind…it only makes sense that there are people in our community that have a deep interest in learning about ‘church planting’, about the ‘ins and outs’ of what goes into planting a church from the very beginning…
So, since the end of July, Monica and I have led a small group for potential church planters, 16 of them to be exact. It’s been a tremendous experience…
We’ve discussed things like ‘why plant a church’, the story of Crossings from the beginning, what it means to determine you calling in life, etc. We’re even doing group projects where two cities are selected, research is done, and plans are made to plant a fictitious community in a real city… (Any CPAC alums out there might be having horrible flashbacks of ‘group projects’, my apologies) It's kind of like Sims for church planters…
The group will probably meet a total of 10 times. What a great learning experience for us all…
