And then there was Baltimore…

At the end of our vacation, after Boston and NYC, we had one more stop…Baltimore, MD, or Owings Mills, MD to be specific.

I am coaching 3 different church planters…(Louisville, Boone, & Owings Mills) Sean & Jenny Olson are the planters in Owings Mills and planning on a 10.10.10 launch. They are doing an amazing job…making relationships, building groups, planning community events, all things good and right as you prepare to launch a church.

We were able to make a stop on our way home form vacation to spend about a day and half with the Olsons. We were able to take a tour of their meeting location, see the city, spend some good time with their family, and catch a baseball game at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Camden Yards is one of the most gorgeous baseball venues anywhere. Now the team, the Orioles, they suck. So tickets were no problem…as opposed to Fenway in Boston.

We got there late (getting caught in a torrential downpour as we walked from the subway to the stadium), purchased $9 tickets and went in and sat wherever we could find an empty seat. We started in left field and ended up behind the third base dugout. It was a blast…a little long, 13 inning game, but still a good time.

We also got to meet up with Aaron Graham, launching a church in DC (Columbia Heights specifically). It was great to see Aaron and catch up with him where he is in the pre-launch process as well…

Now the trip from Baltimore back to Owings Mills, not quite the same pleasure. We caught the last train of the day, and it broke down in the middle of nowhere. We were stranded on the train, 9 of us total, for 45-60 minutes while they towed the train to our eventually stop. A good memory, but not something we ever want to repeat.
