Church at Redeemer & Forefront…

While in NYC we also got to attend worship at Forefront Church (Like Crossings, also in the New Thing Network) and Redeemer Presbyterian. (not sure my kids were thrilled with going to church on Sunday morning and evening on vacation, but it was an opportunity to see two places I’ve never seen before)

Both experiences were good.

Forefront is a multi-site church meeting in the Gramercy Theater on East 23rd on Sunday mornings and on the upper west side on Sunday evening. We attended at Gramercy.

Redeemer Pres has 5 different services in three different locations throughout the city. We attended Sunday evening at Hunter College. The Sunday evening at Hunter is where Dr. Timothy Keller teaches when he is in town, evidently he was out of town this particular week.

There were many similarities between the churches (demographic being one), and many differences (mainly worship style).

In all the years and all the trips to NYC (probably around 20-25 times over 20 years) it’s the first time I’ve ever attended a church in the city where I wasn’t teaching. That was a nice change.
