Heading north for a few days…

We left on vacation yesterday. A family vacation. The whole family.

Now the fact that it’s the whole family doesn’t seem odd to me, not one bit. But evidently, it’s a bit abnormal. My oldest son Michael, 20 years, was telling us in the car, somewhere in the midst of the 12 hours we drove yesterday, that he is the only one of his friends, except one or two (yes, that's you Johnny), who vacation with their family.
The main reason being that most his friends don’t enjoy being with their parents for any amount of time, and they can't stand being around their siblings for an extended period of time.

This may be just me, but that seems like a horrific part of our culture.

Anyway, we drove from Knoxville to Bethlehem, PA yesterday….like I said 12 hours, actually 12+ hours.

But it was a beautiful drive…gorgeous mountains from Tennessee to Virginia to West Virginia to Maryland to Pennsylvania.

We took a little detour when we saw a sign for the “Kutztown Folk Festival”…we figured, ‘that could be fun’. Well, it was a little further off the road than we expected, and when we got there we learned that evidently the ‘Kutztown Folk Festival’ closes at 5pm…and it was 5:30.

Oh, well. We got to see the gorgeous little town of Kutztown though…and found some great pizza down on main street.

Off to Boston in a few minutes….with a little detour to Roseto, PA. (Readers of the book Outliers might recognize ‘Roseto’…or if you were at Crossings last August 23rd.)
