The Envelope Please...

As we prepare to plant this 'newthing', as we ready ourselves to launch this new
church work in February, it's been a fascinating process to select a name for this church.

Back in June I posted a request for help in coming up with a name...over 60 names
were suggested. I so appreciate all the thinking and praying that went into your suggestions,
both the serious ones and the not-so-serious...

Some of my favorites...
Peyton's Summitt
SoccerTacoChurch
Knoxville Postmodern Emerging Christian Church
Big Orange Box
What Up Dog don't You Understand My Meaning Brother Man When I Flip You Back and Forth Christian Church

Even though that last one was really tempting we have finally settled on a name...Crossings

The thing I learned most through this process is that when selecting a name for a new church,
it's less about finding a name that will attract people and more about making sure that whatever
name you select doesn't become an obstacle to someone finding their way back to God.
