Music to my ears...

There's a group of people here in Knoxville, who have begun to meet once or twice a month as we prepare to start this new church in February. (We're calling them our 'Launch Community'. It's another one of those church planting terms)
It's simply a group of people who have come to me and said, "I'd love to be a part of this newthing God is doing."...

We met this past Friday for the first time since I've been back from Chicago...it was great to be with everyone. We did a few things: talked about vision, debated over a good church name, beat Jake at ping pong, etc. But we began the evening with the best part, in my opinion, when we went around the circle and answered the question, "Which parts of being involved with this new work are the most exciting to you?"

I absolutely loved the answers...here are a few...

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity."
"There's a real sense of unity and purpose."
"It's a chance to be part of something from the ground up."
"It's thrilling to be part of something that my friends who won't go to church but are curious about Jesus are interested in."
"I want my friends to feel as awake to God's word as I do."
"I simply want to be a part of something that pours new wine in new wineskins."

May God continue to lead us along step by step...and may we hold on more tightly than we ever have before...

shalom

its really more of a dinner community than a lunch community. you know...based on the evening meeting time and all. but i'm good with lunch too. either way.

Prayers for you guys, and some insane jealousy that we are a little less than 2 years out from being able to be back. Trying to trust God's timing...
