An infamous list...

“It’s always something” …a true phrase in so many aspects of life, especially church planting.

We have been meeting in our theatre since the middle of January (after a few weeks of practicing setting up and tearing down we launched on 2.11). In those weeks we had so many really weird things happen at the weirdest times. So I thought I’d make a quick list, one for each of our eight weeks since launch.

Here is eight of our top infamous moments from just the past few weeks…

-On our first preview service Sunday the Theatre employee in charge of opening the building overslept. It took us 45 minutes to contact someone to get us in the building.

-An inebriated man crashing into the light pole in his Ford Explorer immediately outside the load-in door of the theatre at 7:20am, right in the middle of set up.

-An extension cord being mistakenly unplugged during the teaching causing us to lose all lights and sound for about 5 minutes.

-The only snow of the winter fell our second week (1/4 inch of snow in Knoxville shuts down the city).

-A hard driving rain the third week, especially during unload & set up. (We were all soaked all morning. We have since learned to bring extra clothes each week).

-Each of the main speakers completely quit working on separate weeks (thank goodness for warranties)

-House lights that are permanently on each week being mysteriously turned off this past Sunday which meant we couldn’t see our hands in front of our faces.

-A larger than life-sized cardboard cutout of a scowling Samuel L. Jackson pulling a scantily clad Christina Ricci with a chain promoting the movie “Black Snake Moan” continues to adorn the theatre lobby all 8 weeks.

Fun times...

Maybe these are not so subtle reminders that every battle is a spiritual battle.
