One final review...

It's been great to hear your thoughts and ideas on what we believe God is calling us to with Crossings... Thanks for participating int he discussion...may it be never-ending.

We know that these dreams are fluid, ever-changing and we pray that we don't get in God's way as He takes us on this wild ride of being a faith community helping people find their way back to God...

Just to review...

We dream of a community where…

…We listen to and are obedient to God

…The Biblical story of God is taught and lived out

…People come and celebrate the mystery of God together every week; not to ‘consume’, but to ‘be consumed’

…Faith is seen as a journey, change is assumed, innovation is expected, and rebirth is welcomed

…Everyone is encouraged to wrestle with and through the questions of life & God

…Beauty, art, and creativity are valued, used, and understood as coming from the Creator

…Every person immerses themselves in their neighborhoods and communities

…Each person understands how God has created them and they use those gifts as a rhythmic community

…People feel free to ‘dream big dreams’

…All people, everywhere, are made whole in Jesus and become followers of Him

Any final thoughts...?

I think it's great our community of believers has a 10-point mission statement. We have direction! I'm very excited about this community, and can't wait to be able to invite my friends who are searching for a community, who are lonely and need connection.

So perhaps we are all well-prepared for this adventure, well-versed in the Bible, and well-liked and respected within our circles and communities. Maybe we are using our God-given spiritual gifts and abilities, and are committed to stay with this church no matter what the cost.

But unless God "shows up", none of the above will matter to the kingdom.

All I'm saying is that we need to be prepared and disciplined and not be lazy, but there's also a great need to humbly get on our knees and on our faces in our closets and bedrooms and ask Him to show up, guide us, and bless this community. None of this is about us, it's all about Him. Amen and God help us so we can point others to your power and glory!

I'm just excited about seeing what it's like to put all these into action.

If anybody won't show up...it'll be us, not God! I just pray for Him to help us be faithful to what He's already paved the way for and help us to allow eachother the same grace he's already shown as we feel out what it means to have those ten vision statements.

What I mean by God "showing up" is not that he literally shows up, he is obviously everywhere, from the tiniest quark to the billions of stars. I mean that his spirit anoints what we do as a church.
