10 days of vision...

Day four…

In case you’re just tuning in…we are in the midst of what we’re calling 10 days of vision. Based on the beliefs, values, & experiences that we feel God is calling us to in Crossings, what will it look like if His dream comes true for this faith community…

We’re asking any and all people to join in the discussion by posting their thoughts here on my blog…
Here are a couple of my favorite thoughts from #3…
“The thing about allowing yourself to be consumed by God is that He takes you ever so much closer to who He created you to be.”

“I've always had a longing that never goes away no matter what I try and fill it with. The only times that ache goes away is when I'm in the presence of my Abba.”

And my absolute favorite…
“Can we move to Knoxville and be part of this???” (Of course the answer is ‘yes’)
Here is number four…
We dream of Crossings being a community where…

…Faith is seen as a journey, change is assumed,
innovation is expected, and rebirth is welcomed

Yes, I love being first.

For such a long time I saw faith as a possesion; either you have or you don't. No longer; faith is less a destination and more like a vehicle. It takes to new places of experience and joy. It helps us realize their is far more to God and than we can ever behold at once it keeps us wanting more.

my brother wrote a song for me for my wedding and one of the main lines in it says, "i wish [for] you, change....yes, i hope things never stay the same." i never really understood that line for a long time - i looked at change as a negative...like falling out of love with dustin or something - why would he wish that for me? but then i got it (yes, i can be slow sometimes!)....that he wished our love would grow deeper, more intimate....CHANGE...be more than i ever expected it to be.....CHANGE.
when i understood that line, it also helped me to understand my faith. it should be a lifetime of CHANGE....growing, deepening...becoming more intimate with Jesus....CHANGE....becoming more than i ever expected it to be.
i'm excited that crossings looks to be a place that encourages and expects change and doesn't think we've all made a one-time change and that's it....our faith is a lifetime of change.

No matter what, faith is belief in God. However, the tricky part is that how it looks or how it is fleshed out in a person can be very different.

I pray that we are a church that trusts God in each other.
