10 days of vision...
Before I get to day number nine in our 10 days of vision, let me give you an update of the last couple of days in the life of Crossings:- This past Friday we had over 40 people at a Launch Community gathering...(we determined how many Lion, Otters, Golden Retrievers and Beavers we have in our Launch Community) ...while discussing the needs we will have at Crossings for people to step up and bring their gifts to the table" as we prepare for launch ion 2.11.07. The theme of the night (for all you Mystery Men fans) "I shovel well, I shovel very well."

- Then yesterday, (Sunday), we took 39 people to Asheville, NC to visit with Highland Christian Church, another Stadia/SMCMF church plant that is just over a year old. It was great to worship with the community there at Highland, and great that we had to stand at the back because there weren’t enough chairs. Shannon McCready and his team are doing an incredible job of being the church in downton Asheville.
Okay…enough update. On to day nine…
We dream of Crossings being a community where…
…People feel free to ‘dream big dreams’
Your thoughts…?

Many people are scared to dream big. They do not think they can do anything big. If you support that, and they feel it, it will happen.

PLEASE don't take this in the wrong way you Launch Community people...but this one sounds like something in a Disney soundtrack. It's rather cliche. It didn't connect with me very well. It's ambiguous. I'm wondering if day 10's statement is going to be, "where we fly higher than eagles" or, "where there's shiny happy people" or, "where you can achieve anything you set your mind to."
Ok, I'm somewhat teasing. But this one does seem a little different than the rest to me. Maybe I'm the only one. And it doesn't really matter because it's a really nice statement. I hope Crossings really is a place where people are encouraged to dream big dreams.
I would love to hear more on this one.
What type of dreams are you talking about?
I'm gonna get misunderstood on this one. I can already feel it. Blog commenting is like trying to talk to your spouse about weight, your past relationships, and money.
Tred wisely...and live.
Tred poorly...and sleep on the couch and not get invited back to bed for a couple days.- at 9:43 PM said...
I understand Jeph's comment, this statement, at first read sounds like a Cream of Wheat commercial. However, here is what i know is true. In the last two years i have allowed myself to answer the "What's your big dream?" question honestly without holding anything back. As a i look back over this period in my life bigger things than i could have ever imagined have taken place. Has it been perfect? NO! In fact, it may also be one of the most desperate times in my life, a time where at moments i have felt more wounded and worn out than ever before. But i feel good about it. Why? Because i know that i am following a dream but it is not my own; as sappy as it sounds, i am fully convinced that it is God's dream for me and for my family.
With that said, the saddest part of it all is that in all this big dreaming, i have yet to feel like the church is really in on it with me. May we be FREE to dream big dreams at Crossings and may the church join in on it and cheer us on.- at 8:28 AM said...

As i look back on my comment this morning i feel the need to clarify something, blogging is not always the safest expression of yourself. When i say the church is not in on this dreaming with my family it sounds a little over stated. I guess what i should have said is that sometimes the people or community that you expect to be your biggest support end up serving more as the chains binding the dream than those who are loosening the chains so you are free to dream. Make sense? Am i saying that no one is supportive in allowing dreaming, of course not.

Dreams involve risks, and risks are not just for invenstors on Wall Street. Jesus took major risk because he had an 'impossible dream'. What would it be like to dream like that, to risk like that. Maybe we might end up with no place to lay our head. Cool...huh?

I was thinking it would be even more powerful if it read something "People are free to live out big dreams."

For many people...big dreams must first be 'unearthed' within us. (Hence the digging bit that Mark shared!) We must come to a realization as to what our wildest dreams in Christ are before we can ever begin to live them out. As Mandy stated...sometimes we are in need of support and encouragement in order to be in the place in our lives where we can live it out. Big dreams are not going to be lived out only in Knoxville! God is going to do such great things through the work of Crossings that I firmly believe that these dream filled lives are going to span the globe!
