10 days of vision...
Day three…Thank you all for participating in the fleshing out of the vision for Crossings by posting your thoughts and feelings…
It’s a true joy to read things from your hearts like the following:
- “The Biblical story of God is Love. It is the thread woven throughout the scriptures.”
- “It's not simply an imitation, but a realization that we ARE the story of God.”
- “I hope and pray that crossings will be a place that always reminds us of God's passionate pursuit of us.”
…People come and celebrate the mystery of God together every week; not to ‘consume’, but to ‘be consumed’
Your thoughts…?

I'll admit I grimaced when I read this comment. To be comsumed by someone or something means it's going to take over - EVERYTHING! Be number one in my life. The first thing I think of when I wake up and last when I go to bed. (Sound familiar? - when I rise and when I sleep you are there)
When I'm at work, play, church, cleaning - God is at the top. To me it's scary and exciting all at the same time!
It's like I've been groomed for this moment my whole life. I've always had a longing that never goes away no matter what I try and fill it with. The only times that ache goes away is when I'm in the presence of my Abba.
I am tired of nibbling and giving my left toe to God. I want to feast and throw my whole self into the fire! Exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.
I also am reminded (again) of the whole "it's not about me" idea. If I go to church just for myself and for what I can get out of it, that's what I'll come away with - me (yuck)
But if I go for God, out of love for God, expecting God, then that's what I'll get - God.- at 8:44 PM said...
The thing about allowing yourself to be consumed by God is that He takes you ever so much closer to who He created you to be. So instead of being losing your identity, you find out who you truly were meant to be...a bit of a paradox?
Mark and Monica,
Can we move to Knoxville and be part of this???? =)- at 9:53 PM Mark Nelson said...

Ah, to celebrate the mystery. That sounds wonderful. In complete contrast to debating the mystery, unlocking the mystery, deciphering the mystery... This will be a welcomed change.
