10 days of vision...
Day sixFive down, five to go…
We continue with these 10 days for vision for Crossings…
For the last few days we have been in conversation about what happens when you take our foundation of belief (what we believe about God, Jesus, Scripture, etc.), and combine it with the things we value most (story, wholeness, restoration, authenticity, & creativity). We believe the result is a community that lives out the dream of God.
So far, we have discussed the first 5 of these dreams that we believe God has for the Crossings community…
I invite any and all of you to continue to discuss and define what these dreams mean to you by posting your thoughts on our next five…
Here is number six…
We dream of Crossings being a community where…
…Beauty, art, and creativity are valued, used, and understood as coming from the Creator
Here are some deep thoughts from #5…
“If we are truly going to celebrate the mystery then our dialogue will need to start and end with questions. It's not that answers never come into play; it’s just that answers are more about a destination and questions are more about the journey.”
“It is refreshing and disarming to be free to wrestle with your thoughts, even the scary doubts lose their edge in the midst of a loving community.”
“We have a rich heritage of holy struggle--I don't mean in the crusade sense, but in taking advantage of the intimacy God has enables us to have with Him.”

From my perspective, the church I grew up in always seemed to squeeze everyone into "the mold"; do these things, exactly this way in order to worship correctly, be a good Christian and serve God properly. I guess there were some exceptions, but they seemed few and far between. It has been nice to learn, over the years, that God made us with varying gifts, talents, purposes and abilities to serve Him. I hope that Crossings will be a place where we can all discover new, and rekindle the old, passions for beauty, art and creativity God has planted in each of us; seeking to use them to point all to our Creator.
