A baby church shower...

What an incredible time we had last evening at our Crossings Launch Community…

We gathered together for a time of worship, communion, and gift giving.

Somewhere we had heard of the idea in church planting of throwing a ‘baby shower’ for the new birth that is soon to come. So we created a ‘baby shower’ registry at Target, as well as listing certain places we needed to purchase items from to help us be ready to launch on 2.11.07.

So last evening wise men and women came from afar bearing gifts like blankets and portable cribs for the infants, Legos & Noah’s Ark figurines for the toddlers, a djembe and other percussion instruments for worship and numerous gift cards for places like Staples, Guitar Center, and Home Depot (there is much post-it notes, guitar strings, and PVC pipe to purchase). Oh yeah, and a couple of those Barbie Doodle Pros (those are for Bill and I in the office).

It was truly a joy to be a part of last evening and see the generosity of so many dear people…

Below are some pics from last evening…

Ella announced at preschool this a.m. to her teacher that she played God's piano. It took me a minute, but the gift she opened on behalf of Crossings last night was a toy piano for Kid City. When C asked Ella who the piano was for, Ella very earnestly responded, "God."

I've never seen someone so happy to be holding a tamborine. Is this going to be one of those churches where EVERYBODY gets a tamborine? If so, I'm in.
