Shane Claiborne on community transformation…
Native East Tennessean, Shane Claiborne, now of Philadelphia, The Simple Way, and speaker/author around the world shared some thoughts on Wednesday morning at Exponential about what it takes to bring about transformation in a community…A few things that aren’t enough to bring about transformation…
-more than a doctrinal statement
-more than ideologies
-more than just a good vision
Transformation….
…takes a neighborhood
…takes imagination
…takes humility
He said, “We read the story of Jesus coming into Jerusalem at the Triumphal Entry and sometimes think that’s our call to ride into a city…but Shane reminded us, “In that story, we’re the donkey, we’re not Jesus. We’re just the asses that bring Jesus in.”
Exactly what I expected from him…
