Clean carpet on the 7th floor…

We moved my son Michael into the dorm today at University of Tennessee.

Here’s the last picture of the rug we bought him being clean…(those of you have lived in the dorm know what I mean)

I’m so excited for Michael. He’s in a great school (Go Vols!), has a great roommate (Anthony), has gotten into a great program (school of architecture), and is truly ready to take on this college thing.

He really is. And we couldn’t be more proud.

But what an interesting transition of life…the dynamics of our family suddenly change forever. It’s all good, don’t get me wrong, but it is definitely a new chapter in our home.

The day was good, unloading went very quickly (climbing 7 flights of stairs because the elevator line was too long really wasn’t that bad), putting together the loft beds went better than I expected (here's a pic from his dorm room), our family got a little lunch at Panera, all was good, calm and relaxing…until our son Matthew said a prayer for Michael as we were dropping him off back at the dorm, that’s when a wave of emotion crept in and kind of knocked us over…

It was pretty emotional watching him walk up those steps to the dorm as we drove away, (And I know, I know, that seems silly since we’ll see him tomorrow at Crossings, but it was …)

I’ll let you know when Monica stops crying…
