Johnny Cash does Gatlinburg…

This weekend, in the wonderland that is Gatlinburg, the Tennessee Christian Teen Convention was held for somewhere between 4,000 & 5,000 middle school and high schoolers (I heard differing numbers).

My sons attended the event, and my son Matthew and his band finished 2nd in a band competition and got to play on main stage. (Hopefully, I’ll have video from it soon) We went up Saturday morning to hear them and they were great!

Evidently, later that day, after we had left, Matthew & Joshua Branson performed on a stage called ‘Studio B’ that is broadcast into the main session area from an outside room.

You see, Matthew, at all of 16 years old, has somehow channeled the spirit of Johnny Cash…

My friend, and the host of the show, Greg Adkins sent me this link this morning with the following preface:

You son was, to my knowledge, the first person to ever sing these words at TCTC:
"I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die".

Mark,

Hannah saw this and said Matthew was AMAZING! She loves Johnny Cash and I trusted her opinion but after seeing the video wholeheartedly agree. Here's to the new "Man in Black"!!

That's his real voice for the most part. He really is amazing. You should see him on the bass guitar. And the harmonica. He is incredibly talented in sooo many ways.
