Mid-Term Report...part III

In the ongoing series of updating everyone on our first four weeks in Chicago, here is one last mid-term report...

Just a few highlights from this last week...

Wedding in West Lafayette...
It was so amazing to see so many good friends at Patrick & Sarah's wedding June 30th & July 1st in West Lafayette. Wow, lunch with the Schrumpf's, getting to see Dana Marcellino's new 'dig's, meeting up with Aaron, Julie and Aliyah Smith Saturday morning, and seeing people we haven't seen in such a long time at the wedding (If I start to list names, I'll screw up and leave some people out) . It was a great trip. Monica and I are so grateful and thankful we have such amazing friends. God has been so good to us all...

Continuing with that 'amazing friends' theme...
Revolving door of Knoxvillians...
We have loved having some of you 'southerners' drop by this small midwestern town in the last few days...On Sunday it was worship & lunch (not at the same time) with the Hundley's; Kevin & Carol Reeve were here Sunday evening through Tuesday morning; and I was fortunate enough to have Skip Tanaka take me to lunch on Wednesday (at Portillo's, of course) What great times of God continuing to affirm and confirm this vision that He has given us for this 'new thing' in Knoxville...

Two great movies...one great Fire...
We've loved two movies we have seen this week...it might have something to do with the fact we got to watch them on the 64 inch screen TV that is in the house we're staying in, but Elizabethtown & Family Stone are great movies. (Mission Impossible III wasn't bad either at the dollar theatre). Also, one other 'for fun' activity...our family (Tammy Melchien included) had an absolutely wonderful time on the 4th of July at a Chicago Fire MLS soccer game. They have a brand-spanking new stadium that is gorgeous and the Fire won 1-0 on a 'bicycle-kick' goal...plus fireworks after the game, what more could you want.

Monica and the kids are in Indiana at the moment...Thursday in Brookston (where we used to live), Friday & Saturday in Muncie (where Monica's family is) and Sunday in Terre Haute (where my family is) Please pray for them...for protection emotionally, physically & spiritually, and for me, that I can get a lot of work done while they're gone.

shalom,
mark
