Mid-Term Report...part I
Today is July 5th...we have been here in Naperville/Romeoville for exactly 4 weeks...Monica and the kids have 23 days left before they had back to Knoxville and I have 30 days before I leave Chicagoland and another 7 days before I touchdown in Knoxville...We are basically midway through our residency here at Community...So you might ask, 'how goes it so far?'...
Well, here are some of the highlights...(I'm working on my 'blog brevity' so bear with me....Isn't that right Dan Herrenbruck?)
-Community Christian Church is an incredible place to learn and to prepare for this 'new thing' God is calling so many of us to in Knoxville. If you don't already know, CCC is one church with multiple locations that has allowed God to create a dynamic and vibrant community of Jesus followers. It's been wonderful to be a part of this community and specifically this staff culture.
-It has been a rollercoaster ride (in the best sense of the word) for the last four weeks. Staff retreats, a Multi-Site Conference, bunkering down for a three day Church Planters Assesment, and a quick trip to Lousiville for the North American Christian Convention. All has been good, but maybe the best part of all of that was the 10 or 11 hours I spent in the car with Troy McMahon (one of the lead team at CCC) traveling back and forth to Louisville. The sharing of our stories, the discussion of what makes CCC what it is, discussing various pieces of this church planting world, and the multiple stops for McDonald's ice cream cones was more than worth the trip. The time that I've been able to spend with CCC staff like Troy, Jon, Tim, Tammy, etc., has been invaluable...great for my soul and for what God is doing in Knoxville.
Okay, in order to keep my pledge of brevity, I will pause for now and give you part two of our mid-term report tomorrow...(or maybe in just a few minutes)
