Parked out in front of 4 Market Square…

You never know what will be outside the front door of the building where Crossings meets on Sundays and has offices during the week. Yesterday, just outside those 4 Market Square doors was this airstream trailer from something called StoryCorps…

If you’ve never heard of StoryCorps, you can read more here…it’s a fascinating part of NPR (National Public Radio).

From the web site…
Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 30,000 interviews from more than 60,000 participants.

The heart of StoryCorps is the conversation between two people who are important to each other: a son asking his mother about her childhood, an immigrant telling his friend about coming to America, or a couple reminiscing on their 50th wedding anniversary. By helping people to connect, and to talk about the questions that matter, the StoryCorps experience is powerful and sometimes even life-changing.
(I especially like that part about ‘talking about the questions that matter’)

It’s amazing to me, no matter the story that’s told, no matter who is telling the story, somehow they always get me to tear up just a little. Even if it’s a story that I’m pretty sure I’m not going to connect with at all, by the time the few minutes I’m wiping my eyes with my sleeve. I’m so weak.
