A small group for church planting…

Last night at Crossings we began our second version of our ‘Church Planting Small Group’…an 8 week gathering for those that have some level of interest in learning about Church Planting and possibly being a part of a church planting effort sometime, somewhere in the future.

We did this back in 2008 with great success, and thought it was time to have our 2nd edition…We had 16 people last night, with a potential for up to 20 or so.

The purpose is to spend time looking at the theology, philosophy, and practicalities of church planting. To ask hard questions about ‘calling’ in life and to brainstorm and discuss what God has in mind for the church today.

One of the things we’ve added this year is a 20-30 minute interview with a current church planter via iChat. (that’s what the picture is) Last night David Sternberg from Bridges Christian Church in Chattanooga joined us from his living room. It was great to hear his story, vision, and to hear what he’s spending his time on right now as they prepare to launch on 10.10.10.

It’s pretty stinking exciting for me to think about the amazing potential for Jesus’ church that is simply in the room each week. May God have His way with us…
