The ‘next’ for Crossings…
As I mentioned in my last post, yesterday was our 1st birthday as this faith community here in Knoxville. As part of our celebration, I offered up a challenge of what I think God is asking our story to be this next year, year two.
There are many things we are suppose to be about as a faith community, probably far more than we can imagine, but there are three specific things that I believe are to be a part of our story these next few months.
Doubling our number of leaders We have 60+ people serving in various roles of leadership throughout Crossings, from Kids’ City to leading a small group to setup to hospitality to a number of areas in the arts. Incredible people using their gifts to help people find their way back to God. We believe that number is to double in the next year.
Incarnational Impact Our desire is to ‘be the aroma of Christ’ in our community, “an aroma redolent with life” (II Corinthians 2). To do this we are learning how to be ‘incarnational’, Jesus in the flesh, in all areas of our communities. We’re a year old now, it’s time to get better at this.
Moving to 4 Market Square in downtown Knoxville The incredible opportunity has come to us to be a part of this project in downtown Knoxville. Once details are finalized, the plan is to move our worship gathering to the ‘Square Room’ here at 4 Market Square and to have offices upstairs. The philosophical and practical implications to move are many, but we’re just unbelievably excited about this opportunity. The plan is that the building will be ready this August, and we’ll go to two services that same month. The architect’s animated tour is below. What do you think?
