How FFL has ruined my life…
I love playing Fantasy Football. Then again, I hate playing Fantasy Football. Let me explain. This little computer based, modern day trading cards, competition between friends and enemies has changed how I watch games in a dramatic way.
The extreme side of this is illustrated by the pictures below. Our dear friend Tammy Melchien was visiting from Chicago this weekend and we came up with the great idea of watching the game and keeping our Yahoo scores on the screen at the same time. Our obsession is illustrated by noticing which we chose to put on the bigger screen.
My guess is, many of you out share my ‘football malady’ if any of the following things are true:
-You stare at the screen while the game is on, but you're not actually watching the game on the screen, your watching the ticker at the bottom of the screen with updated stats.
-You feel bi-polar when Peyton Manning throws 5 touchdowns because you like the Colts, but your Fantasy team is playing against Manning and a win could put you in first place.
-You find yourself actually cheering for Terrell Owens. (You are a true Fantasy player if you can actually draft a player that you despise because you know he’ll get you a lot of points at WR)
-You spend a substantial amount of time during the week contemplating the potential scoring merits of Brian Griese v. Cleo Lemon.
-During worship time you ‘have to go to the bathroom’ 4 times to check the injury status of your starting kicker.
Can any out there ‘testify’ to this truth?

Amen...Amen...Amen...
Honestly, i think that baseball is worse because it goes on every day and the season is longer and it seems like there are so many more decisions to be made...
but yes can testify...
as a matter of fact, i was depressed yesterday because i just traded Randy Moss for Adrian Peterson and the minute that happens Peterson is down with an injury...it drove me crazy...
and you know...i have always known that you have to go to the bathroom a lot...now i know why...- at 3:07 PM Mark Nelson said...

This post should be titled, "Why Alan Doesn't Play Fantasy Anything."

I'm with you, Alan. I can honestly say that, for me, the words "fantasy" and "sports" just don't involve each other.

Before I read that post, I was checking my fantasy roster's for this week. Not obsessed.- at 9:16 PM Unknown said...
I know what you mean. It is always the worst when you are in first place. When you are in last, you are just trying to get to the next season.
