Road Trip to SC...

I’m sitting in a Panera (no surprise, I know) sitting with my sons, Michael & Matthew, and Johnathan Branson. We’re in Rock Hill, SC.

We drove over yesterday (yes, I took them out of school all day) because the U.S. Disc Golf Championships are held here at Winthrop University. The boys had been talking about possibly coming over here to watch this tournament for weeks, so we thought a road trip was in order.

We did the Motel 6 excursion last night and are getting ready to go back over in a few minutes…(by the way, if you’ve never experienced the cultural anomaly that is Motel 6 it is a must)

We’re having a great time…watching the best disc golf players in the world (The picture here is of the boys with the Tiger Woods of Disc Golf, Ken Climo, in the background), listening to great music (My son Matthew has controlled the i-pod and has given us equal doses of Dave Matthews, Damien Rice, Rich Mullins, Coldplay & Styx. “Welcome to the Grand Illusion…”), and we have laughed at lot. (Mostly because Johnathan starts laughing at something and the rest of us just laugh for no apparent reason)

Everybody needs a good road trip now and then…

We could have played the course if we had stayed til Sunday...but had to come back to teach...

We did play another course in the area...it was good.

Did you know that all Jr & Sr High Schools in that area have disc courses? Isn't that wild...

Oh Lord, why couldn't I have been a youth minister in South Carolina??
