We’re going to Boone…

I spent part of Monday and all day Tuesday in Boone, North Carolina…

Not only is Boone a beautiful, gorgeous place in the ‘high country’ of the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, but it is also the location of Crossings Boone, set to launch in the fall of 2010.

Since the beginning, we’ve been intent on being a reproducing community at Crossings. Not in the sense that we simply send money to plant a church, but to take what we believe God has created in our community, to take the DNA, who we are, and to reproduce that somewhere else.

Specifically, we feel a call to downtowns of university towns…Boone fits that criteria. (If you don’t know, Appalachian State University is in Boone)

We are extremely excited about this move, and completely unsure what it will mean to have another site in another state…

We’ve got our lead guy, Durl Jones and we’re in the process of putting the rest of the team together, raising funds, securing a meeting location, all those kinds of things…

Already, I’m loving the call, the challenge, the need to stay on vision…I’m telling you, this church planting thing is a blast.

Boone is a great place with a great need! I have a friend who is the assistant baseball coach at App State. I grew up in Raleigh and the perception of Boone through the 90s was that it was full of "hippe potheads!" Best of luck with your journey there!
