A picture of community…

We had another great day at Crossings yesterday…starting a new teaching series called, “My Most Important Question”, having a lot of new people with us, and celebrating together with five people as they were baptized…

For our baptisms, we go after Sunday service to the home of someone in our community and we eat together and chat, etc…and then we celebrate the baptisms in the pool. It’s a beautiful place on the river, affectionately referred to by one an all as our Baptism Castle.

The scene that developed as we readied ourselves for the baptizing five of our community, (which by the way, ranged from 6 years old to 80 years old), was an extremely powerful picture of community.

It was a hot day, about 95 degrees with the kind of humidity you have to cut through, so most of the kids found their way into the wading area of the pool, (some to the deep end) by the time we finished eating and got ready to go…

So, the picture as I stepped into the pool to baptize these five was of everyone sitting around the pool, at least their feet in the water, and kids sitting, laying, floating in this large wading area…it was illustrative to me that it these baptisms were done and experienced by the entire community, and in many ways they were.

I can’t get over the fact that these memories for these kids, their families of being at these types of events will be so long lasting, and so powerful in all their lives of faith in Jesus.

Here's some pics...
